Some ideas resist being explained before they are experienced.

Sermon of Petals began as a question about growth - not biological growth, but spiritual growth. How do we change? What remains after moments of devotion, grief, joy, or surrender? Rather than searching for answers, this project builds a world where those questions can be physically explored.

Flowers became the central image because they embody contradiction. They are delicate yet resilient, temporary yet cyclical, individual yet inseparable from larger ecosystems. Throughout the work, dancers construct and dismantle living sculptures that continually shift between bloom and collapse, revealing communities that are constantly becoming rather than ever arriving.

An excerpt from Sermon of Petals was shown at The Movement Project’s BUILD Fundraiser for The Dance Hub. Most recently, a newer excerpt was developed and shown at The Movement Project’s first Seen: CLE. The gallery below shows some beautiful fragments captured by Black Valve.

If every flower eventually fails, what makes the bloom meaningful?
